The Empress of Cheese
The Artisan Cheese Class is a two hour class about everything cheese - the history of cheese in the local area, the French cheese system, an overview of local cheeses and why artisan cheese is so delicious. Click Join Us to see our upcoming Events.
It includes the tasting of over a dozen artisan cheeses and paired beverages. The class is focused on cheeses made according to European styles and methods and the burgeoning local cheese movement in the area. You will come away with a new appreciation of the exquisite cheeses available locally and know where to buy them, serve them, cut them, cook with them, pair them, taste them, store them and much more. We also serve appetizers and dessert. Come hungry!
Who I Am: I am Tonya Harmon and I've been studying the art of cheese for over 15 years including the study of the science and technology of cheese making at the University of Guelph in Canada and with cheesemakers in Europe and in North America. I've been teaching classes for the last five years in France, Canada, the US and in Mexico. Two years ago we moved part time to San Miguel de Allende in Mexico and I've been actively searching for and learning about the best artisan cheese makers. In the last year I've taught over 400 people what I've learned with the goal of encouraging others to enthusiastically support local artisan cheese makers as well.
